Find your way into Loka
MAC STUDIO + ANDROID · IN DEVELOPMENT
Loka gives numbers a set of familiar images, then helps you practice getting back to the numbers from those images. Here is the basic flow in the current apps.
1. Start on this device
Choose “Use and sync locally only” during onboarding. No name, email, password, or account registration is required. You can read the Terms and Privacy Policy from the links shown there. Sign-up is only required for cloud sync. You can still sync to your phone on the same WiFi network without cloud sync setup.
2. Get to know your pegs
Explore the 00–99 peg library. A peg pairs a number with a word and a memorable picture. In the example on the home page, 17 is Dog, 42 is Rain, and 97 is Book. Your own library can use different wording and images.
3. Make the library yours
Open a peg's details. Use the pencil to edit its word, description, sounds, or PAO cues. Upload an image as the primary or as a variant. Drag a variant into the large image area to make it primary, or use “Make primary.” Hold a variant to select it, tap others to add them to the selection, then use the trash icon to remove those associations. The download icon saves a copy to the device.
4. Listen, then recall
Use the play symbol to hear the library. Opening an image pauses the sequence so you can return and resume. Use forward to move to the next peg. Tap the speed label to cycle through 1×, 1.5×, 2×, 2.5×, and 3×; the next tap returns to 1×. Library and peg mastery remember their own speeds.
5. Connect trusted devices, if you want
For direct Wi-Fi sync, connect the computer and phone to the same network. In Studio, open Settings → Mobile app sync → Wi-Fi sync, turn it on, and create a phone pairing code. In Android Settings, choose “Connect to Studio” and scan it. No account or cloud setup is required. Keep Studio open and the computer awake while syncing. If the computer’s network address changes, scan a new code. Guest networks may block connections between devices.
Cloud sync away from home
In Studio, open Settings → Mobile app sync. In either app, sign-in asks only for your email and password. Choose “Create an account” to register: enter your name and email, create and confirm a password of at least 8 characters, accept the combined Terms/Privacy checkbox, and choose whether you want optional Loka updates. Follow the confirmation email before signing in. If it has not arrived, use “Resend confirmation.” That confirmation also confirms your updates choice if you selected it. In Studio, save the recovery words and create the pairing QR. In Android Settings, sign in with the same cloud email and password, then scan the Studio cloud pairing code. Check the confirmation code on both devices before approving.
After signing in, open account details to update your name, email, or password. Saving requires your current password. An email change stays pending until you confirm the new address; you can resend that confirmation and then sign in with the confirmed address. If you forget your password, request a reset from the sign-in form. Changing or resetting your password signs out existing cloud sessions. A replacement computer still needs the 24 recovery words to decrypt the library.
Cloud sync uses the internet; direct Wi-Fi sync sends updates between the devices on your local network. Both devices must belong to the same trusted account. Phone edits wait safely when offline. Studio needs to be running to apply changes and regenerate speech with its selected voice. Until the new recording arrives, the phone uses its preferred system voice.
Keep recovery separate
Your recovery words are needed if you lose all trusted devices. Store them privately. Never send them to support, enter them into this website, or include them in a public issue.
